BECAUSE IT’S IMPORTANT & BECAUSE THE RIVERSIDE FARMERS’ MARKET TOLD YOU TO
Who is Kathy?
My “real” job is as a marketing research consultant in the media industry – a fancy way of saying that I interview consumers on what they like to watch on TV and how they use media. But, the job I love best is being Chloe’s Mom – she’s 7 and will be entering 2nd grade at Central in the Fall. My husband Michael is a consultant in the foodservice industry and a chef. As a family, we all enjoy experiencing different cultures through food and travel.
Why did you get involved with the Farmers’ Market?
Despite actually hating gardening as a kid (too many bugs, too much sun, and picking raspberries hurts!), I now love to watch things grow and have fostered a real appreciation for my farming ancestors. It really makes a meal special when you know where they ingredients have come from and the care it took to grow them.
What do you wish more people knew about the market?
With an expanded roster of vendors and greater diversity of products, a family should be able to shop the market for a complete dinner.
What is your favorite farmers’ market offering, staple, aspect or purchase? To be honest, I can’t wait for the corn…but that’s a long way off. We’ll start with all the great spring veggies – lettuces, herbs, peas…and so forth.
